I have a 42-inch LCD Bravia Model No. KDL 40Z4100. I accidentally (fiddling with the remote) started a channel scan yesterday, though everything was working perfectly; upon completion of the scan, I received a message reading "No channels detected" or something similar.

I have checked the cable (looks good, plus I tried a different cable also); the cable outlet connection (perfect); the Signal Type (cable); and all connections. Everything is hooked up correctly, but I cannot get the set to find analog or digital channels.

Help, please!

Here's what I have tried so far:
Tried different cable from cable outlet; checked all connections; made sure Signal Type is Cable; re-scanned multiple times.

Here's my brand/make/model:
Sony Bravia Model KDL-40Z4100

Byron,

I was able to do the reset. Still unable to scan in channels.

What's my next move?

Thanks,

Jay ,

Have you tried restarting the cable box?

Byron

Customer

Did that, still no channels.

Jay,

I don't see anything wrong with the TV. The reset should have made the problem fixed if it's TV problem. I would recommend you to have the cable box checked by your cable provider and see if the settings are correct to push it's signal to the Sony TV

The cable is split before the cable box: cable goes directly to TV, which is in another room. Thus, the TV I'm having problems with doesn't get its signal from the cable box. Or does the box influence things anyway?

If this is how your connection looks like the lkast thing you can check is the splitter.

Hi James,

Were you able to check the splitter? Are you still not getting signals from the Sony TV ?

Hi Jay

Just checking in. Any updates?

Thanks for checking in. I tried another TV at that spot; it receives signals OK, so we know that everything is working up to the coax going into the TV; but curiously, we cannot scan in some local channels that we used to get off of the cable (on the other TV I tried; the Sony 42" doesn't scan any channels at all).

Thanks,

Jay

Hi Jay,

You can try the firmware update for this model but its not normal for no channels to be found because would indicate normally a bad or dead tuner.

The KDL-40Z4100 TV has an ATSC tuner and should be ready to pickup over-the-air digital programming without a digital tuner or a converter box.
