The reception on our tv keeps flickering like a strobe light. What could be causing this?

Here's what I have tried so far:
We thought it might have been the cable hook up, because we had a different tv that went out on us that wasn't very old. We hooked up another tv to the cable and it also had some trouble. We contacted the cable company and they worked with us to resolve the issue.

Here's my brand/make/model:
samsung smart tv model #LN46C650LIF

Method: Chat

  • Chat with Jackie
  • Support with Cable company:
  • They removed cabling and reconnected, also restarted devices same issue.
  • It used to not flicker after turning on, but now it does.
  • Also unable to change quality of picture.
  • Confirmed with customer TV is no longer under warranty.
  • Confirmed symptoms is due to a failing power supply. Informed that this seems to be a known power supply issue within the class of Samsung TV. and that it requires removing back cover and repairing a jumper from the power supply.
  • She requested instructions be sent and she will let her husband do it.
  • Will be sending instructions in 30 minutes.
