Hello Larry

How are you doing?

PO135 This code refers to the front oxygen sensor on Bank 1. As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0135.

PO141 This code means that the heated circuit in the oxygen sensor on bank 1 decreases time needed to enter closed loop. s the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0141

PO155 This code refers to the front oxygen sensor on Bank 2. The heated circuit in the oxygen sensor decreases time needed to enter closed loop. As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly

PO161 It basically means the PCM detected either an excessive current draw, or an open or short in the circuit powering the oxygen sensor's heater circuit. This is in reference to the Heated Oxygen Sensor (2) located rear of catalytic converter (Bank 2).

PO443 The Evaporative Emissions System (EVAP) allows fumes from the gas tank to enter the engine to be burned, rather than vented into the atmosphere as an emission. The purge valve solenoid is supplied switched battery voltage. The ECM controls the valve by operating the ground circuit, opening the purge valve at specific times allowing these gasses to enter the engine. The ECM monitors the ground circuit as well, watching for faults. When the purge solenoid isn't activated, the ECM should see a high voltage on the ground circuit. When the solenoid is activated, the ECM should see the ground voltage pulled low, close to zero. If the ECM doesn't see these expected voltages, or senses an open in the circuit, this code is set.

The sensors / parts involved needs to be replaced to resolve the issue Larry. Is there anything else I can add or help you with? I'll be standing by for your response.

Thank you

Relly, please give us a few more moments to ask any questions we may have. We have been eating dinner. Please stand by for just a little while. I think what you have noted should allow a mechanic to locate and correct the problems. Are any of these codes related to the check engine light no longer coming on when originally it was burning?

Relly, according to the North Carolina vehicle inspection statement the MIL

Bulb working failed.  The MIL commanded on: failed.  A failed OBDII diagnostic link connector is damaged, tampered or inoperable. A fail indicates OBDII diagnostic link connector is not communicating with test equipment at inspection facility. Could you explain this  Larry

Hello Larry

Good to hear from you again. They may be referring to the OBDII port that they think is damaged or faulty. As a first course of action, try to spray the port with a contact cleaner and observe how it goes. If it still fails, the port can be faulty and will be needing replacement.

Please be advised that the port may be working just fine, there's a possibility that the wiring or PCM itself is faulty that's why it throws codes. If this is the case, the wiring should be checked and replaced if necessary. Let's just hope that the PCM is still good,  because a faulty PCM can throw false codes.

Relly, we were getting a check engine light on the car and we put the car in a Ford dealership of which they kept the vehicle 11 WEEKS, not days and finally returned the car as fixed. Obviously the car is not fixed but we really don't know how to go about having someone to repair what appears to be connected to the emissions components. Is that the jest of the problems and why do we no longer read a check engine light. The vehicle inspection statement implys the light may have been tampered with. Is that a possibility? Should we try taking the car to another Ford dealership. Larry

Hello Larry

Thank you for that additional information. If that's the case, it will be best to take it to another dealership and tell that story so they can check thoroughly. It's odd that its throwing codes but no check engine light.
