Hello Cindy  

Try  pressing "CL" to clear the error. If it doesnt clear the error , try pressing "ESC"twice.

Did you try to restart it by turning it off and try to initialize the XE 406 again?

Looking at the situation the beep/alarm happens when you do something to the printer like pressing a key. If it happens when you press buttons, try this: If you press clear (CL) and press some of the numeric buttons, you should see numbers appear on the display. If you can get numbers but just a beep when you press a department key, then you are not logged in.  Try to log in again using your secret code/clerk code before starting any entries. Just set the mode switch to the REG position, enter the clerk code and press CLK#. Let me know if it helps by replying to this message. Thanks
