To change the language on the Paperwhite:
You don't need to read the words, just count and this will resolve the language problem and set it back to english.
From the Home Screen
- Menu (three lines in upper right corner)
- 2nd from the bottom Listing (Settings)
- 4th Listing (Device Options)
- 5th Listing (Language and Dictionaries)
- 1st Listing (Language)
Select English
Ok
Ok/Accept
The Paperwhite will reboot.

Just go back to the main screen and wait for my message I am preparing the steps and will be posting in a bit. You can also restart the device just in case you cant go back to the main screen.
Thanks for waiting.Here are the step-by-step instructions for how to make the switch with guide pictures.
1. Tap the menu button the top right of the screen, which looks like three horizontal lines. Tap Settings 2nd from the bottom Listing (see picture as guide to know where settings is)
2. Tap the arrow next to Device Options. 4th Listing (see picture below)
3. Tap the arrow next to Language and Dictionaries 5th listing. (See picture below)
4. Tap the arrow next to Language 1st listing.
5. Select the language to ENGLISH and tap Ok. Shown on pic below is the list look for English and follow the next step
6. Tap OK on the next pop-up. This will cause your Kindle Paperwhite to restart.

I'm sorry Abe what main screen, on the Kindle, how?
Okay I understand its hard to go to the main screen with the language. You can hold down the power button instead for a few seconds to restart it. Press and hold the Power button for seven seconds until the Power dialog box appears, and then tap Restart. You can tell me just the words in there just in case you still having trouble restarting.
If its french the power dialog box should have the redémarrer word which is restart for French. Select it. After the device restarts follow the last message that I sent you with those guide pictures. Let me knw if problem has been fixed

Keep pressing and holding the Power button for a full 40 seconds until your device restarts.

Ok. I did it and the Kindle page with the tree and reader came on a white line started to go across the lower portion of the page, the French home page came on again😛 And then it went to a black and white etching

From me? I turned it off for the full 40 seconds as directed and sent you what happened.. what is on the screen after the reset is the black/gray etching picture as I described. Right before that the Dreaded French homepage did flash on the screen so I do not know where we are. Did u see the response I sent about all this?

Ok but how do I get it out of the etching page. I've tried touching the screen and the sides but I'm afraid I'll do something to cause more problems. Any suggestions?
Do you see a Home icon at the Top right? its a house symbol. Just tap it it takes you back to the home screen.
After tapping the house icon on the top right. Follow the video by clicking this: Change Language on Kindle Paperwhite. The video opens on a new page but you can just close it after following the steps so you can go back to this chat. Let me know if the problem has bbeen fixed. Thanks

Abe. Nice try BUT the instructions to change the language are for a Kindle in the English language mode. That is what I am trying to get to. Is this the answer - that your agency cannot get me out of French to English? I would expect a refund; it is nearing midnight here therefore, I would like to continue this session tomorow at 9:00am. Is there a reservation number I can have so I am not charged again perhaps an answer will be forthcoming in the morning - I can't believe this is unusual I simply need my brand new Kindle White to be taken out of French and put in English so I might have the pleasure of using it🙂

The secret to resolving Language settings problems is following the steps in Order. I provided the steps with pictures that has number and box indicators to guide you through the steps. Please read and understand each simple steps before following them so the problem will be fixed:
STEP 1. Before you start make sure you are at the home screen. To do that select he home button (boxed in red on picture below) on the top left of your Kindle Paperwhite screen:
NOTE: The screen should be similar to the picture below before selecting the 3 horizontal lines on the left to get to the right track. It is important to make sure the home button is selected first before proceeding to the next steps below.
STEP 2. Once you are at the home screen select the 3 lines (boxed in red on the piture below) on the top right of your Kindle paperwhite screen to open the drop down Menu box:
3. The picture below has the Menu drop down box expanded and Settings pointed by the lower arrow. On your Kindle, it should say Paramètres instead of Settings since its in french. Select Paramètres on your device to go to the next screen.
IMPORTANT: If you cannot see Paramètres, It means you are not on the right track. Just press the home icon again and start over the steps. You WONT be able to find Paramètres from the list if you do not start from the Home screen.
STEP 3. The next screen on your Kindle shoud be in the Paramètres screen. The picture below says Settings since in English but just follow the steps to correctly select the right option. I numbered the list from 1 to 4 on the sample picture. Without reading the words just count from the top to the fourth list on your Kindle and select the arrow beside the 4th on the list (Arrow boxed in red on the sample picture below)
STEP 4. The next screen on your Kindle shoud show 5 lists. I numbered the list from 1 to 5 on the sample picture. Without reading the words just count from the top to the fifth list on your Kindle and select the arrow beside the 5th on the list (Arrow boxed in red on the sample picture below)
If you are on the right track, the next step will be easy to follow:
STEP 5. The next screen on your Kindle shoud show 3 lists. Langue is on the first of the list. Select the arrow beside LANGUE. This will now open up the language selection screen:
LAST STEP. Change the language from Francais to English and tap Ok at the bottom right of the screen just below the list. Tap OK on the next pop-up. This will cause your Kindle Paperwhite to restart and the device will now be set to Englsh. Hi please excuse my delayed response. I had a serious family emergency , in fact I am on my way back to the hospital now - I only came home to walk the dog! I will connect later this evening and attempt the steps Abe left me BUT I must reiterate the Kindle home page is in French , as the whole unit is, and does not look like the sample on the screen Abe has shown.

Is anyone there to help me? I am trying to change my change my brand new, never used Paper white Kindle from French language to English. Abe Pastor , my Kindle Expert left me instructions But the first step instructs me to go to the Home screen and hit the menu ( the three lines in the upper right corner) I indicated to him when we were working together previously there are NOT three lines there are three dots. Is it safe to touch those?
HELP. All of these instructions match up with a Kindle in the English language‼‼‼‼‼. The home page I have found in the French version has a stick figure house as the first figure on the right the next figure is an arrow pointing left, the next figure is the Kindle figure of the sun and the next is labeled boutique. The next box has a magnifying glass and it says Rechercher and the final box has the three vertical dots. HELP ME

Please respond or I will assume that Expert Help cannot or will not fulfill their contractual promise of solving any problems with a Kindle that are fixable. I fail to see how changing it to English is impossible or I would have been informed that when I first started with Abe Pastor, who was very patient and kind. I paid the extra money to get immediate help - none of which has happened.
It appears since I am not getting any response and I am more than willing to continue this process I will be forced to demand my fee be credited to my account. I am highly annoyed and disappointed that your cite was unable to deliver what was promised.
