Thank you for your response. Is the kindle paper white already connected to your wifi? Can you try to power it off again press and hold the power button until it shuts down. Wait for 60 seconds and then power it on again. And then advise me if you will still be getting the same error message.
No. I thought the registration process was supposed to connect to wifi.this model is supposed to have 3G as well. I will try what you said.

Have you tried to reset your kindle? If not please try the following steps provided below.
Once your Kindle Paperwhite resets. You have to re-register the device with Amazon and download your Kindle e-books and other content from the Cloud at your Amazon account. Please advise me if this helps. I will be standing by.
Settings brings me to a page with only one option, "register". The text states " Press the next and previous page buttons to see all the buttons. But they dont work.
Im sorry. Tapping menu again brought up "reset to factory defaults" I have done that already. Same results.
It allows me to shop in the kindle store so wifi must be working

Yes same error message.
Can you try to go to tap the Menu icon then go to Settings then Menu and then Device info. If there is a available update update it. I will be standing by.
When I select register it asks for my email and amazon password. After I enter them I get the message I described. Also I double checked my amazon account to ensure I was using the right email and password.
Have you check if you have the latest firmware? Have you tried the steps provided you.
Check if there is a new update, if there is update it and lets see if you will still be getting the same error message.

When your in the Settings do you see the Device info? If you see it tap it so we can check if we need to update your kindle.
This is not a tap screen. There is a device info paragraph but I am unable to navagate to it with my select button. It lists the software version and serial number.
What is the software version shwoing there?

I see. The latest version is actually 3.4.2. The last option you need to do now is to update your kindle device using your computer. Please follow the steps provided below on how to updae your kindle. I will also attached a video link instructions on how to do it.
Note: This option will be greyed out if the most recent update was already installed or if the file transfer was not successful.
Note: Your Kindle may restart multiple times during the update. Your may also see Your Kindle is Updating on the screen.
I went to amazon site. For serial # beginning B002,2.5.8 is latest, but then add kindle services uppdate. Which I downloaded andd updated and now I dont get the messags, but I is still unredistered
Can you try to register again the kindle device.
I did so twice. I type in email and amazon password and it goes back to the settings screen. Device...not registered.. I am rebooting now.

When did you purchase this device? You need to inform ebay about this that the device is not registering after you updated the firmware.
