The issue that your having with your iPad is a kind of weird cause there is no settings on iPad that will do this. Have you recently downloaded or installed something in it before this problem start? If you have, try deleting them and try connecting to internet again. If same thing will happen please check if there are applications running by pressing the home button twice and close all applications that you are not using. Applications running in the background also consume memory that might causing for your browser to close.
If nothing will change after those steps, there could be something wrong with the browser application of your iPad and in this case I would suggest to do a backup and restore with iTunes.
