I am running an asues desktop operating on windows XP with service pack 3 and media player 11 installed.

Remotely accessed the computer. Installed Calibre and drivers. Computer will only detect Nook as MTP device. Provided option to upgrade the OS or exchange for a different model (Kindle)

Thanks for waiting. Please follow the steps below.

  • Click on Start
  • Click on Run
  • Type Devmgmt.msc to open Device Manager
  • On Device Manager and look for a n “Unknown MTP device”, Right click uninstall it if it is there and then scan for hardware changes.

Sometimes USB devices choke on installation and then do not recognize for subsequent connections until you clear the unknown device entry.

Please let me know what happen.

Can you see the Nook HD on the list of device in Device Manager?

I believe I can help you with this issue. I can either walk you through the steps or we offer remote support option at no additional charge. I believe I can help you much more quickly with our remote support option. If you want to move forward with remote support, I will need a temporary login in order to fix your issue. You can delete this login after we are through."

If you do not wish to opt for remote access, do not worry, let me know so; I can provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to resolve the issue once we identify the exact problem causing this.

Will you allow me to remotely access your computer to help you fix your issue?

I'll be waiting for your response.
