Thank you for waiting and sorry for the delay. If your ice maker is not working, do the following: Make sure the ice maker is set to the on position. Allow a newly installed refrigerator 24 hrs to cool, and for ice production to begin. The reset button is on the side of the ice maker.

Check the pictures to know where the reset button is:

A. Button on right side

B. Button located underneath

This is not the same as my ice maker. I don't have a reset buttom. The problem isn't that it won't make ice. Just won't crush. Answer didn't help.

Thank you for the clarification and sorry for the delay. I had a power and network outage and cannot send a reply a while ago. This is a RF26XAERS model right? Let me do some research on this and prepare a customized answer for you. I'm actually seeing RF26XAERS and RF26XAERS XAA models you might have a different model on the icemaker pictures. By the way is the ice solid? If the freezer temp is too high make sure the condenser coil is clean and the condenser fan is working to cool the condenser and compressor. Check the evaporator coil for frost. If too much frost is built up the air can't circulate thru the coil and you will need to check the defrost components for a failure.

Anyway, I just need to research on the real cause of this, which could be a component problem. Will be providing the details on my next post. You will be notified through email once its posted. Sorry again for the delay.

Thank you for patiently waiting. I found some important references that will help and the references are videos. I'll add them here so it would help you have an idea of how the Ice maker works and some steps in fixing Ice maker issues like not crushing the ice.

VIDEO: How to Initialize Your Samsung Refrigerator's Ice Maker

VIDEO: Samsung Refrigerator Troubleshooting - Ice Maker: Not Making Ice

In General: Ice Maker not working Properly

If the ice maker is not working check the temperature of the freezer. If the freezer temperature is above 10 degrees F. (-12C) the ice maker will not work properly. It functions best when the freezer temperature is set between 0 and five degrees F. (-18 to -15C). If the freezer temp is too high make sure the condenser coil is clean and the condenser fan is working to cool the condenser and compressor. Check the evaporator coil for frost. If too much frost is built up the air can't circulate thru the coil and you will need to check the defrost components for a failure.

Main Control Board

alt text

If the refrigerator ice and water dispenser is not working the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Normally, problems with the dispenser are related to components of the dispenser.

Possible Ice Maker Assembly Defect

alt text

The freezer temp should be between 0-5 degrees for the ice maker to cycle properly. There are several components in the control module of the ice maker that can fail and most are not sold separately. Also, ice makers have a relatively short lifespan and so it might not be worth fixing. If other, simpler parts like the water inlet valve or shut off arm have been ruled out, and the only thing left is the ice maker itself, replace it as a unit.

Ice Maker Is Dispensing The Wrong Type Of Ice or not producing crushed ice:

If you select cubed ice, and a small amount of crushed ice is dispensed, that is normal. If you select cubed ice and all crushed ice is dispensed,or vice versa, your ice dispenser is not functioning properly. The most common reason for the dispenser dispensing the wrong type of ice is that the actuator flap is frozen or blocked due to ice build up. This is typical with this style of ice dispenser and is easily resolved.

The ice maker may have a build up of ice at the dispenser. To check the physical condition of the ice dispenser do the following:

NOTE: You may need to wait for 12 hours after installation of the water supply line before making ice or the refrigerator will encounter ice making problems.

  1. Remove the ice bin. To remove the ice bucket pull the lever towards you and slide the bucket out.
    alt text

  2. Empty the ice in a suitable container.

  3. Turn the ice bucket upside down and examine the discharge area. It should be in the closed or crushed ice position. If there is ice build up you need to remove it. The fastest way of removing the ice is to run hot water through the discharge area.
Important: Completely dry the ice bucket after running water through it.
    alt text
  4. Check the actuator rod. The actuator rod is the steel rod that runs along the bottom of the ice bucket. Move the actuator rod and look at the discharge chute. Moving the curved end of the actuator rod will cause the flap to open and close. If the flap does not open and close when you move/turn the actuator rod you need to replace the ice bucket. If you are in warranty call 1800SAMSUNG (726-7864). If you are not in warranty visit www.samsungparts.com to purchase a new ice bucket
    alt text
  5. Reinstall the ice bucket. Make sure the ice bucket is fully installed and latched. If the ice bin is not fully installed and latched, the ice function will not operate properly.
Tip: If you frequently use crushed ice, dispense a few cubes of ice after using the crushed ice to clear out the residual shards left in the chute and discharge area.
If the suggestions above do not resolve the issue your refrigerator will require service.

This helped some. Now we can get crushed ice. Sometimes when it is set on cubed the crushed comes out. Also when set on crushed the cubes come out.

Thanks great! I have noted above that you may need to wait for 12 hours after installation of the water supply line before making ice or the refrigerator will encounter ice making problems. Remembering that may help a lot too. I am glad that this isn't a problem with the parts itself. By just giving it time the refrigerator will get back to its normal function.

I will provide a manual that you can use on my next message. Please do not forget to show your appreciation for my efforts by clicking the green Accept Answer button above this conversation located just right below my first response. Thank you so much.
