Hi,

Thank you for choosing ExpertHelp LLC. Lets start first on opening of your car. The Chevy Corvette doesn't use an actual "key" to lock and unlock its doors. So how to you get into a Corvette when the battery dies?

The C6 Corvettes use a fob that contains a key within it. If your Corvette battery dies, simply remove the key from within the fob device and insert it into the keyhole above the license plate panel at the rear of the car. Turn the key to unlatch the trunk, where you will find a cable on the left side of the trunk interior that you can pull to open the driver side car door.

Now once your in the car the first thing you need to check is the Body control module (BCM). Make sure to replace your battery with the new one. Please reply as soon as possible. I'll be waiting for your response.

Can you also reply to my comments on the performance of the micro processor (on board computer), as I believe it is fundamental to the issues I am having. Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. With regards the fob key please check this video link How to Enter & Exit a Corvette With a Dead Battery. In this video it will also show the fob key and how to reveal the key inside it and how to open the trunk. Once you open it replace the battery first and if still no power then advise me. I'll be waiting for your response.

I will do as you suggest, but in the meantime, can you respond to my question on the experience I am having with the issues I am having with the on board micro processor ( computer). All through these communications, you have not replied to my questions. Thank you. I am now starting to think we should be communicating by telephone. Can you provide me with your land line number please?

Thank you.

I have had a look at the video, and checked out the "fob". I can confirm that when I took ownership of this vehicle, I did not get provided with this "fob". If I did, I would have discovered it's presence, and achieved a solution. The simple reality, is that I have not got this fob, and I'm still locked out. What is the best solution from here?

Do I contact GM, from here in New Zealand, and ask for a fob which is designed for my vehicle, or is there another option.

Sincerely

Sam Barns

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

With regards the micro processor is it not responding? I think it is much better if we will have a scanner to get the correct error code so we can pin point the main problem. If we can get the exact error code then we can resolve the issue. But mostly if you have a faulty PCM or BCM this problem occur. Once you have the exact error code we will give you call back to provide the accurate solutions for the issue.

This is to advise you that the GM service people were unable to assist me, by arranging a fob key, to be sent to me. It seems I need to find a solution locally.

I will still like to communicate with you, regarding the problem with performance of the on board computer (microprocessor), as I believe it is the prime reason for a number of issues. As already advised, I will not be able to get the microprocessor scanned with a suitable device, in order t locate the faulty code(s), until next Monday, your time. Meantime, the car is still locked, and unable to be opened.

Can you also advise if disconnecting the battery at any one time, will compromise the performance of the microprocessor on the Corvette? Thank you.

It may help and it will reset the records on the micro processor but it might come back again due to the computer still detecting the error in the long run.
