Hi Marty,
May I know th exact model of your Whirlpool dishwasher?
DU1100XTPS1
thank you for providing the exact model. Did you noticed how many times that the start light will blink?
It is a constant blinking whether the door is open or closed. When I close it, it will do a partial cycle with no set timing on the start of that and then stop and go into the blinking again with water in it. It's possessed. Ha!
Ok. Please try to reset the dishwasher by turning off the breaker for 20 secs. Turn it back on and test the issue again.
I did that but it didn't help.
Ok. If the console is not responding after the reset then the problem is the control board. The board needs to be replaced Marty?
Is the unit still in warranty?
It is at least five years old.
I see. I checked the control board board and the cost of that part is $186 minus the labor cost. Its your decision if you will buy that part and pay for the labor or just get a new one. I believe adding few dollars to th price of the board can get you a brand new one.
Let me know if you have further questions.
Do people normally just replace the whole dishwasher in this situation?
If you will have to ask me, I suggest to replace the whole unit if the cost of the part is like getting a brand new one.
Thanks for your help! I was hoping there was another smaller electrical part to replace. Nothing lasts long anymore.
You are welcome Marty.
Any more questions? I will ask a small favor to you before we end.
I was just looking online at dishwashers. They are $315 to $500 for what I have.
I know it's my decision. Just wanted to let you know.
What do you need ?
