2014 porsche cayenne transmission will hang in 2nd gear frequently and the car will not accelerate. Rpm can get as high as 5000-6000 with steady gas pedal pressure. Dangerous condition pulling out into heavy traffic. Have to step on the gas pedal to get it out of second gear and the car will lurch into 3rd. Dealership said this is "normal". Nothing shows on the test equipment. Tried "sport mode", but it still does it from time to time. Worse when creeping in 2nd gear in a parking lot and need to accelerate into traffic. No way this is "normal". I have driven many models of Porsche and they all hang in second occasionally. I know there is an engine warm-up feature in every transmission where the gears are kept low until the engine warms up, but mine is far worse. Mechanic tried re-programming the computer and is convinced there is nothing wrong. This is a very dangerous problem. Why would Porsche put this type of feature in their cars if that is what this is. I have never had another vehicle do this. I have the V-6 gasoline engine. I have to drive the vehicle cross country soon and don't want a breakdown enroute. The car has 9000 miles on it, but it looks like I will have to use the manual mode if automatic keeps this up. I will eventually get run over when the car does this entering a busy street. Transient condition, most of the time the car shifts mormally.

Hello Mike... how are you doing? May I ask when was the last time you replaced the transmission fluid? Did the dealership check the fluid if it's burned? Most of the time it is caused by a burned transmission fluid which will require replacement. I'll be standing by for your response. Thank you

Ready for your analysis. Porshe says this behavior with their transmission is normal

The car has less than 10000 miles on it. Idon't believe the fluid has been changed

I see.... try this Mike, remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for 5 minutes before reconnecting it. Let's see if resetting the system will do the trick because most of the time it does. Take it for a spin and let me know of the result. I'll be standing by.

Porsche said all the fluids were checked last visit. They did not mention burned fluid. Is this problem sound mechanical or computer. Doesn't the computer control the commands for gear shifts

Customer

Okay, I will try that. It will take about 30 minutes.

I see... It sounds both Mike. If the TCM (transmission control module) is failing, then it's a computer problem. If the TCM is good then the problem can be the solenoids in the transmission. There can be failing solenoid in the transmission that will require replacement.

Let me know of the result after 30mins. I'll be standing by Mike. Goodluck!

The battery on this vehicle is under the driver's seat. I have no idea how to get to it, much less remove the positive cable. This car is unlike any I have ever had. It is engineered to the point you can do nothing on it yourself.

Yes the battery access is a real pain Mike and will surely require a little bit of patience. Please click the blue BATTERY REMOVAL below for reference and let me know of the result. Thank you

I don't have the tools to loosen the seat. I am going to have Porsche do it and change the fluid. If the problem with the transmission is bad enough for them to find it, then they can deal with it. If it goes out during the long trip, manual shifting will at least get me to a dealership unless that mode quits as well. Thanks
