Please open the App Store app on your Mac, then Click 'Updates' in the toolbar, do you see any available updates listed?

Can I also have a phone number I can call you in case we get disconnected from this chat?

Ok.  From the Apple Menu (Apple logo), click on About this Mac, your installed OS version should show, let me know what it will show you. You should also see there Software Update or Upgrades to see if there are any other updates available.

Can I also have a phone number I can call you in case we get disconnected from this chat?
