Thank you for replying. Does the washer pause and just beep? What happens if you unplug the power and restart the cycle? Please let me know by replying to this message. Thanks.
i tried unplugging, nothing changed. when hitting the start button in beeps and goes to pause/ add garment
the door does not lock, was thinking it is the locking mechanism
Several different problems could be causing your washer to stop in the start of the cycle. yes one of them is the door lock. Did you try to check if the door lock is somehow stuck or doesnt switch?
i tried checking the door lock, but not really sure how to
Can you double check on the model number please and provide that to me. I need to check on the door switch assembly. Thanks
417,4112*
Kenmore Model 417.41122310?
that is the number it gives me on the front of the instruction manual
Thanks. Please give me a few minutes to check. I will be posting my message once I have done checking the part. Thanks.
certainly
Thanks for waiting. The door switch usually looks like this:
Please let me look for some info on how to get to that part. Thank you for your patience
is that more then likely the solution? i don't want to change parts if it could be something else
We wont go to that point yet. We need to do some additional checking first before we go to verifying that the door switch is the problem. Excessive suds could be causing this problem in some models of washers too. Another thing is thethe water inlet valve. When it fails, the washer will continue waiting for the water to enter the washer, causing it to stop mid-cycle. Many washers will signal an error code or fault code on the console when the washer stops in the middle of the cycle.. Can you check the console for an error code or a series of flashing lights when you start the cycle please?
there are no error codes
it doesn't get to the point of adding water
So theres no water coming in at all? It looks like the first thing to do is check the water inlet valve.
the machine doesn't get to the point of adding water. the door will lock before it will add water
Yes I understand. Just be sure we need to check water inlet first since this can be the cause of the problem and is easier to check. The water inlet valve requires sufficient water pressure to function properly. First, check the water pressure to determine that it is adequate. If the water pressure is adequate, try cleaning the screens inside the water inlet valve hose connection ports. Then lets see what happens.
you're asking almost the impossible lol
Im sorry about that. Are you having trouble checking the washers parts? If you want to let me look for some alternative and easier solutions if I can find one but I need some time to do research on this. Will that be okay?
plenty of water pressure, i'm soaked
can i take a break and disconnect for about 20 minutes? my cable modem repair tech just got here as well and needs to swith out modems
Sure take your time let me know if you are back online. Looking at the situation the water is good and the washer has no power problems since it does beep which means its the door. And yes the door should lock before the cycle starts which on your case isnt happening. I'll check further on that while waiting for you to get back later. Thanks
ok great be back in a min
I'll be standing by thanks.
ok im back
Done doing some research on this and found 5 causes/reasons why the washer wont start and this focuses on the door lock and switch assembly. the last part that may be affected is the control panel which I think not on your case. Please check these info that I found:
The door lock secures the washer door shut during operation. Once the washer door is closed, the washer can begin operating. If the door lock is defective, the washer door will not latch properly. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Inspect the door lock for damage. If the door lock is damaged or does not latch properly, replace it. To determine if the door lock has failed electrically, use a multimeter to test each of the door lock switches for continuity. If one of the switches does not have continuity, replace the switch.
The door lock assembly might be defective. Inspect the door lock for damage. If the door lock is damaged, replace it.
The door latch assembly might be defective. Inspect the door latch for damage. If the door latch is damaged, replace it.
Inspect the door strike assembly for damage. If the door strike is broken, replace it. The door strike is not repairable—if it is broken, you must replace it.
The main control board may be defective. However, this is rarely the case. Before replacing the main control board, first check all of the components of the lock mechanism. If none of these parts are defective, consider replacing the main control board.
You mentioned that the door doesnt lock at all right? I'm afraid we need to check the door lock assembly. I think I can find a video for you that will guide you remove a door lock assembly on a Kenmore front load. This will be easier since you will have a visual guide. Please let me know just in case.
correct
Is it okay for you to try checking the assembly yourself? I'll post a video that you can watch first and see if you can do the steps. Please let me know.
absolutely, it only looks like 2 screws hold it in
Yeah there are 2 screws and I think it would be easy to check the assembly too. Heres the video click on the link to watch it:
