Hello Paul

How are you doing? Please try to perform the procedure below. If it fails, you will need a scan tool or take it in to the dealer so they can perform the reset.

1. Enter the vehicle and make sure that all doors are closed.

2. Push the odometer reset button while turning the ignition key on.

3. Continue holding down the odometer reset button for approximately 10 seconds until the "Service Reset" message appears in the information center.

4. Release the odometer reset button and press the reset button on the bottom of the wiper stalk.

5. It may take a few attempts with this procedure.

6. If the light is not reset, then a Porsche compatible scan tool will be required to reset it.

Hope this helps and please let me know if there's anything else I can add or help you with.

Thank you

Good to hear back from you Paul. Can you please try to remove the negative battery connector of the car and let it sit for 5 minutes before reconnecting it. I'll be standing by for your response.

Do you happen to have a wd 40? I suggest that you spray some in the key hole then put in the key. Turn the key while applying some force with a mallet. Sometimes the gearing inside can be disaligned that's why it won't turn.

Please click the blue TURN KEY link below. This is not a Porsche but the same procedure applies. I'll be standing by for the result.

Ok Paul... the reset procedure should have work already but I am suspecting that there's a problem with the steering clock spring. It is not responding or not communicating with the computer when turned on. I suggest that you take it in to the dealer for physical diagnostics

Well it won't start and the top is up so I'm going to need a house call. Thanks for trying

Paul... do you happen to have a good battery at hand or can you borrow one? The light should lit very brightly... How old is the newly charged battery?

Posted
Customer

I installed rear speakers and had to connect the wires to the wires that support rear speakers in the back of the radio. After that all hell broke loose

It can be a short somewhere Paul... Can you try to charge the battery again or get a new one then remove the wires that you installed and secure them with electrical tape

Posted
Customer

I do have a battery  I charged the battery in the car and have driven it twice before I started working on it. The charger says it is fully charged

Posted
Customer

That is my next step. I'll need to do that tomorrow. I'll let you know how I make out.

I see... can you try to charge it again them remove the wires you installed. If the battery is old the plates may not hold charge even though our charger says it's full. If the battery plates are not holding charge the voltage output will be weak

Posted
Customer

Sure. I'll replace the battery and let you know

Customer

The new battery did the trick. All is well except for the radio. Think the fuse behind the radio may be blown

That's great to know Paul... get rid of that old battery. Just replace the fuse behind the radio and I believe you'll be good.
