Ice maker not making ice Er and IF comes up. after switching off for a few hours and back on things go back to normal for a few hours then back to Er and IF but still does,nt make ice had the same trouble 2 months ago changed the MAIN PCB ASSY and after a lot of offs and ons it has been going well until now model no. LG730 DR IN FDR. thank you carl.

You've provided LG730 DR IN FDR. Can you confirm the  model if its correct? Is it "GR" L730 ?

OK. That error means there is an issue with the Ice maker Fan. Do you hear a fan blowing in the freezer section, are all temperatures okay?

That can sometimes occur when frost build or ice build up occurs around the ice maker fan thats the reason why it  works again after you unplugged it for a couple of hours due to melting of the ice build up .

I have taken the back panel off and the fan runs when the frige is not in error mode. there is no build up of ice to be seen anywhere

we unplug as soon as we see error code but it could be an hour or two. we also have left the frige off overnight  afew times

no. only dispensing cool water not real cold

yes it took a lot of resetting but it has been working perfectly for about 2months

what temperature is set right now? It should be set to -4F or -20C

OK. If the PCB was already replaced and working good and the  frost buiild up on the fan and fan motor works OK. The part that you'll need to replace is the ice maker assembly to get it fixed

we bought it new 20 th september 2014

Usually the fridge will have a 2 years warranty  with in home service but based from the purchase date it looks like it already out of warranty> I recommend you calling  this number 1300 LG CARE (1300 54 2273) to double check and see if it still covered for repair.

Remember there 3 only three parts to isolate the problem based from the error that you're getting 

Ice make fan (working ) -Wiring on the Fan to or from the Control Board is Damaged, Not Connected, or Loose.

Ice motor assembly -Ice Fan Motor May Be Defective and needs to be Removed and Replaced.

and  main PCB (was replaced) -The Main Control Board has Failed Or the Wiring is Damaged, Not Connected, or Loose.
