Hi Robert,
Do you have external audio device connected to the vizio tv or you are are just using the built in speakers of the tv?
Please send me a reply when you are ready by entering your message in the box at the top then hit the send response button to send.
I have a visio sound bar attached. It has given me no trouble for nearly eight to ten months
Have you tried eliminating th vizio sound bar and see if you get audio coming from the bulit in speakers.
Yes. I shut off the on/off button on the remote but did not disconnect the wires.
Theres a white and red wire from the sound bar going to the tv. Disconnect the wires and see if you hear a sound from the tv internal speakers.
all wires disconnected from sound bar. No sound coming from TV.
grab the remote of your tv and turn the volume up.
No response. I have no trouble changing channels with the remote.
Did you already disconnect the red and white audio wire at the back of the tv?
I didn't, but now I have. All audio leads and wires disconnected.
Ok. is the volume of the tv turned all the way up?
As far as I can tell. There is no visual indicator to determine volume setting.
you tv has its own remote control. grab the remote control of the tv and press the volume button up and see if you get sound coming out from the tv or you can also press the volume button on the tv to adjust the sound.
I have full volume using the TV volume buttons. The remote control will not go to mute. Could I have a weak set of AA batteries?
Yes, try to replace the batteries of the remote so that you can unmute your tv. Seems like the tv sound is muted.
I changed the batteries. The mute button on the remote does not seem to work. Neither does the volume button. The channel button works.
Sounds like the problem is the remote. You should be able to mute and unmute the tv using the remote control. May I know what is the exact model/brand of the tv?
Visio model # SV470XVT1A Serial # LPPCEBK1401528
Ok. Are you using a cable box connected to the tv?
I am using an xfinity remote control, XR11 v3-UTU
Oh... that remote is for the cable box only. Your Vizio tv has its own remote control. Do you have that remote?
This is an example of a vizio remote. the picture below should be the same remote for your vizio tv.
Yes. It works perfectly. Mute works , volume control on Visio also works. Looks like I have a defective xfinity remote principally on the left side.. should I reconnect the red and white leads?
alright. Yes you can connect now the red and white wire. Do you have further questions?
