Hello William
How are you doing? May I know the exact year and model of your Porsche. I'll be standing by for your response.
Thank you
Relly
I was driving yesterday and stopped to give my friend a lift home, when he got into my car I turned to speak with him and my finger was on the switch putting the window up and as was speaking to him not noticing the window was fully up the window started comming back down and stopped two thirds down. Good to hear back from you William... Three things I suspect at the moment. The window control switch is faulty, the window motor is faulty or it may just need a reset. Can you access the car the moment? I strongly suggest that you remove the negative battery connector and let it sit for 5 minutes before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and may get the window back to it's normal operating state. I will be standing by
I disconnected the negitive from the battery and reconnected it after 5 minutes started the car and the window still wont go up, it is now saying PSM failure on the dash.
The PSM light shouldnt be a problem William. It does come on if the cable is removed or new battery is installed. Try to start the car. Move the steering from left to right and vise versa. Drive a short distance til the onboard computer resets. The PSM light will go out.
Is there any history of window regulator replacement William?
Drove the car up and down the street and the PSM light went out. There is no history of the window regulator being replaced, the car has full Porsche service history and has done 42.000 miles.
That's good. Ok William it's either the switch or the window regulator/motor is at fault and may require replacement. By the way, do you hear any sound coming from the door when you push the window button?
Yes there is a sound when I try switching the window.
Ok... I strongly believe that the cable of the window is broken. You will really have to replace that regulator that includes the cable. You have power on the switches which is good and that leaves the regulator at fault. Below is what the regulator looks like William
You may click the blue WINDOW REGULATOR link as well for reference on how to access it incase you want to do it yourself. Please remember to remove the negative battery connector again if you will replace the parts.
Hope this helps William, Please let me know if there's anything else I can add or help you with. I'll be standing by
Have you seen it William?
Thank's Relly, I'll take it to the porsche garage and have them look at it, yes I watched the video.
Answer accepted,paid and tipped. Cheers
