Hi Holt,

You can buy a universal adapter/converter device since France is using 230v electricity and your devices is using 110v only. You can order this device via Amazon. Please click the link below. You can charge all your US gadgets on this device if you are in France.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Here's the specs of the device that I recommeneded.

  • Adapter/converter Combination With Surge Protection
  • 2 Modes adapter Only Or Adapter/converter Combo
  • For Use With 110v-120v Us Appliances Overseas
  • Converts 220v-240v Foreign Electricity To 110v-120v

The important part there is that it converts 220v to 110-120v which will fit your your devices that uses 110v.

I am aware of all that, but some units say use on hair dryers, hair curlers but not on low wattage iPhones, etc. as will not work. Part of the diffuclty is those companies really do not know how to explaing their devices.  My converter is about 20 years old but am tempted must to  use it. Has a low and high setting.

Your converter will be fine for a ihpone or any ipad.  These devices low wattage devices so you should not hhave a problem.

I assume then using the low setting, which I think is for 25w and below, would work ok. The higher setting is for 50-1875w

When you charge your ipad on low setting, keep a eye out for how long it takes to charge.  If you notice that it is taking longer than usual, use the high setting.  Your Iphone should be ok on the low setting.

Just one more-- I just checked my unit and low setting is for 25w and less, and I assume the iPhone and iPad draw less than 25w. It is so old that such devices are not even listed.
