Ferdinand,
I am having a problem with my Sony Bravia 4k TV. When initially turned on it comes up and runs for about 5 minutes and then restarts. It will do this for about 30 minutes and then run fine. I have checked the settings, thinking it was an ECON setting but that is off. Is there anything that I should check or do to fix this?
Hi Craig,
Thank yyou for waiting!
Can you tell me what is the Model number of the TV?
XBR-55X850B. It is about 4 years old. I bought it from Best Buy as a demo
Let me check the system model, Hang on please
Tried checking the model,
The Eco is the only settng that will trigger an auto off.
If Eco is already set off. then it is possibly hardware.
Is the Tv plugged directly to a wall socket or thru a power surge protector?
Directly to wall. I have unplugged and plugged it back many times leaving it unplugged for up to 2 minutes
What input the TV is set to?
HDMI 1/2/3 / TV / ?
hdmi1 using Dish network
try Turning the TV on using the regular TV Input.
Does not matter if it has no TV signal. Just try it with a different input source and check if the problem will be the same.
Before doing that, I just thought of another sympton. When selecting Home on the remote, it took multiple selections before it would turn on. Now when the TV finally stays on, the Home button works immediately
What do you mean by "When selecting Home on the remote, it took multiple selections before it would turn on."
Prior to this problem, If I wanted to watch a movie on Amazon or Netflix, etc, I would press the Home button on the remote and the TV would go into the TV side when I can select different selections including the TV settings. This is a smart tv and is hooked up to my network.
I see, lets isolatedish hdmi signal,
Switch the input to TV only,
Turn the tv off to the point that when you turn it on it will show the problem.
Then turn it on, but this time it will load TV signal only let me know if the tv will power down like you describe the problem
I have two other TVs connected to Dish whit no problems. It doesn't appear to be cutting off. Maybe I didn't leave it off long enough
When The automatic switching off happen , Does it turn on by itself?
yes it does
Do you have other possible source aside form the Dish that we can test?
Maybe DVD player or some kind?
nothing directly hooked to it. only dvd thru network. I have the TV turned off to let things cool down. Will turn it onin a few. It is set to TV input
Ok Let me know.
Is there a number to call you?
I just turned it back on. ***-***-****
Ok Let me know how it goes.
It is still on. Think maybe it is dish problem?
It is still on
Do more Testings.
using this method were using , using TV input.
Also Try it like this.
Disconnect other Device using the same dish box.
Im thinking the disk is being underpowered with all devices using it.
See how this goes.
I think it is more Ideal if you will do more testing and lets touchbase again tomorrow.
You think?
Yes, that would be good. No other TVs are on at the same time and I have had Dish longer than I have had the TV with no problms.
Great, try this sequence and let me know tomorrow.
Three straight attemps on TV signal input.
Three attempts on dish
then another three on TV
Write down the outcome and let see.
I will call you tomorrow around afternoon EST
Or call me ***-***-****
I whent back to HDMI 1 and Dish and it shut off again
I will get back to you tomorrow. What time? I will be available around 9AM eastern time
