2002 Lexus SC430 convertible top will not complete top down cycle. Local Lexus dealer scanned top code B2504 and stated that probably roof drive motor LH circuit. However, the top goes down completely into the trunk and the trunk lid remains open and the package tray stays open in the vertical position. I'm capable of replacing the LH roof drive motor, but I think it may be limit switches instead because why would the top go completely into the trunk if the motor was bad. I would check limit switches but I can't identify them find images of them nor determine their location. Perhaps if it is the motor, it is only failing to lower the trunk lid and then the package tray would follow by closing. I did replace the package tray motor and it did not solve the problem.

Hello Marc

How are you doing? You may be right on the limit switches. It should not go down if the motor is faulty on the LH side but if the code says that's the fault and so be it. The limit switches is worth a shot though. Please check the diagram for reference and hope this helps.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can add or help you with. I'll be standing by for your response.

Thank you

Dear Marc, It was a pleasure helping you with your MERCEDES BENZ issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.

Issue identified : Convertible top will not complete top down cycle
Solution Implemented : Chat and called Marc to discuss about the issue. Performed reset procedure by removing the battery. Dealer is billing a big amount for the fix which is not practical. Came to agreement that something must be preventing it to cycle normally. Limit switch can be one of the cause if not the motor. Solution Accepted
If issue resurfaces : Advised to contact us at s**t@experthelp.com or call us on our support number ***-***-**** )
