!993 Aerostar 8cyl engine overheats and fluid shoots out the reservoir. Radiator and cap have been replaced. Thermostat replaced. No airlocks in the system. OIl is clear. The vehicle starts and runs well in all temperature conditions without fail. Still, the vehicle overheats in a matter of minutes. What's going on?

Hello Todd

How are you doing? May I ask if there's any history of water pump replacement? I'll be standing by for your response. Thank you.

Hi Relly. Sorry it took so long for a response. I didn't recognize your email address in my inbox. Anyway, my aerostar is a 6cyl (typo) and there isn't any record of the water pump being replaced.

One more thing, it's a 4.0 liter 6cyl engine. Since you brought up the water pump, is there a plastic shaft that turns the internal blade that may have broken. I looked into the radiator at the cap and couldn't see any movement of the coolant while the engine was running. Is there any other way of checking for water pump failure? I'm looking forward to your response.

Hello Todd.... good to  hear back from you. If there's no coolant movement that's a sign of water pump failure. The blades can be corroded or broken or the water pump itself is worn out thats why it will not rotate to make the coolant circulate. Hope this helps. Is there anything else I can add or help you with? I'll be standing by for your response. Thank you.

Thanks Relly! I mistakenly presumed if the fan is turning the water pump is working.....WRONG. Your bringing the water pump back into question made me rethink my diagnoses. Replacing the pump is a lot less expensive than a head gasket. Experthelp is money well spent. So, thanks again Relly "of Jesus", God bless.

Dear Todd, It was a pleasure helping you with your FORD issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.

Issue identified : Engine overheating
Solution Implemented : Chat and called Todd. Discuss more about the problem. Adviced Todd to replace the water pump first for the blades can be broken or it's worn out that's why it will not rotate when engine is running. Solution Accepted
If issue resurfaces : Advised to contact us at s**t@experthelp.com or call us on our support number ***-***-**** )
