My Hyundia 1x35 Auto has a starter motor problem. foot on the Brake pedal and operate the starter. It's intermittent starting and now it won't start. My mechanic has checked the starter motor and it seems to be fine. It's seems a problem from the pedal to the solonied then onto the starter. Any ideas?

Hi Jim,

Does the engine cranks when you turn the key to start position or is it totally dead (no response from the engine)?

You can send me a reply by entering your message in the box at the top then hit the send response button to send.

There's no reponse!  It's a keyless system. I put my foot on the brake pedal and operate the starter.  It did start sometimes but now it's dead!!  Put into the local garage and he checked the starter motor and it seems fine Ok?

I don't think so!!  The car is at the local Garage and the mechanic wasn't sure!  He's tested the motor and the solonoid and they seem fine He's not getting any help from the Hyundia agents

can you contact the mechanic and check if theres an immobiliser light on the dash. The light should turn off the moment that you put the key to ON position. If the light wont turn off then that means that the vehicle is not recognizing the key. Try to replace the battery on the key and see if that will fix the problem.

The garage is closed now so it will have to be tomorrow.  We've checked the key battery and it's fine.   The ignition lights go off when one starts the engine.  The mechanic thinks it could be a fault between the foot pedal to the solonoid.  Is there a relay swich or any other module that could be at fault?

There is this one fuse call "transportation fuse" inside the fuse box. Check this fuze and make sure that the fuse is not busted and it is pushed in properly. This is very common for this vehicle. If the fuse is not pushed all the way, the engine will not run. See picture below.
