My spouse passed away Dec. 24, 2018 while living in the Philippines since 2013. The woman he was cohabitation with provided information that he died and sent graphic pictures. She is demanding money for hospital, medicine, care, and burial which I am refusing to pay because as his wife, I did not agree to any of this. Abandonment requirements say you have to wait to collect on this law. My concern is that the person in the Philippines will still be withdrawing SS payments from his bank account in the Philippines where his checks are deposited since he was unable to walk for the past several months.

Andrea,

First you must contact your local Social Security office and explain that your husband is deceased, so they can stop his SS payments.  Then you should arrange to meet with them to explain what SS benefits may be due to you.
