Hi Marilyn,

Try to reset the printer and see if that will fix the problem. See procedure below.

Reset the printer

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

       NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

  9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

  10. Try to print

Let me know if this helps.

I completed this process.  However, printer goes to "Service Station Stalled" message again.  Not able to print.

Did you checked if there's a foreignt object blocking the carriage or it could be a paper jam.

Customer

Nothing is blocking anything.  I've reloaded the paper.  No paper stuck in the printer.

OK. Did you remove the plastic tape on the carriage before you put them to the carriage?

Customer

Yes.  And it recognized the cartridges as HP.  I just slide the thing with the cartridges all the way to the right and then back and now its printing.  I always have trouble getting those ink cartridges in and perhaps I knocked something out of line.  It's working!  Just printed my alignment page and am scanning it.  It worked fine and I will now try to send a print job.
