Bruce,

In Missouri, income from retirement accounts such as an IRA or a 401(k) are taxed as regular income. Since you were a part time resident this applies for any payments received during the time of residency.

Social Security retirement income is fully exempt for seniors earning less than $85,000 per year if filing single and $100,000 per year if filing jointly.

Thanks for your response. I am in the Pacific time zone so a couple of hours behind you. I am using a third party computer program that is not clear. The federal taxable amount was brought over and wasn't high enough to warrant taxes. I am just not sure if I should just use that amount and leave it alone or not. Again,  this is Washington state pension and I am now in Oregon. Just trying to do the right thing.  Any help is appreciated.
