Dear Clair, It was a pleasure helping you with your Sony issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution. 
Issue identified :

Assistance in connecting the DVD player to her TV

Solution Implemented :

Call customer and assisted in following the color code on the cable pluging in to the Video / Audio L/R at the back on the DVD and to the back on the TV

Selected input to component/TV

DVD display is now showing and customer was able to set up the DVD

Issue resolved
