Hi Jo,
Thank you for waiting!
May I know what is the model of your DVD player/recorder?
PDR GX35
thank you Jo,
Cannot find this model, Can you double check?
Should be PDR GX355
I have other numbers but that is what is listed under model number - other numbers - 6056254 7C 17W
Ok I found the model It is RDR GX355.
Let me check this issue. Hang on.
The disc drive Model is TS P632A SDBH
I have the top off the unit so can see inside
Can you try this initilization test first?
turn it off / Unplug the power.
HOLD the power button for 15 sec / UNPLUGGED
the plug it back in and power it back on and see if the tray will come out.
Yes, I will try that hang on
Didn't work
Ok Try pushing and holding these button all together for 5 sec
POWER + STOP + EJECT
So buttons 1, 9 and somewhere on 8 which is stop.
OK I printed that and will follow the instructions
FYI - I only have one eye and vision is not great in it. Bear with me, please!
Ok Remember the
POWER button / the STOP Button and the EJECT Button
Hold them altogether for 5 sec.
Hi Jo,
Any update with the step?
I also have arthritis in my hands so am unable to perform the suggest action, sorry. Any other suggestion?
I did the power. eject and stop - it didn't work
I'm afraid that's all.
It is possible that the tray mechanism is busted.
If you have local tech in your area It is more suggested to bring it there.
Sometimes the tray can be fixed by replacing some belts in it. Worst case scenario the Tray needs to be replaced which in your case is the "TS P632A SDBH"
I have checked this part number and it is available in amazon for online purchase.
The Tray does not have an emergency eject hole which is making this problem difficult.
I don't think the tray is busted. I live in Asssisted living facility and do not have transportation to take it any where.
Is the DVD showing power?
Yes, and "open" shows in the display window
I'm pretty sure I played a movie on this unit within the last month. Don't remember having a problem with it then,
If there is a DVD stuck on the tray. when you try to play it now will it play and what does the DVD say when you try to play it?
Yes, there is a DVD stuck but it won't play. It does nothing when I try to play it.
Did you check if the child lock is OFF?
No, how do I do that?
Try holding down the stop button on the recorder for more that 10 sec.
You will see a message that comes up the screen about child lock.
I didn't get a msg about child lock. All that shows on the display is "open"
It seems that the DVD itself is stuck.
Lets try unplugging it for at least an hour.
And try it again.
Can you keeo this conversation screen open so you can give me an update after an hour?
I think I can keep the conversation going. I will unplug and wait an hour then get back with you. I appreciate youe help.
Are you there? Still doesn't work!
Yes Im here,
Do you see a cable from the DVD loader going to the mainboard?
Yes Im here,
Do you see a cable from the DVD loader going to the mainboard?
Try unplugging the cable from both ends and replug them and turn off and turn back on the DVD and let me know how it goes.
Was out of rang, just saw your note will perform the operation
\Easy to unplug - not so easy to plug but I think I have it - didn't work. On the displeu screen is something that looks similar to this -- --:-- -
Display also showed "Line 1" before the above icon
Ok, ejecting the DVD still doesnt work?
what the display say when you press the eject button?
Ejecting still does not work. Display says "open" when I press the eject
I see,
I would say the DVD tray or the Disc loader is your problem.
It is not responding to the command.
Either the discloader has to be repaired or replaced.
The whole DVD is Fine.
I tried to "play" the disc that is stuck but it wouldn't do that.
Yes, the Disc loader seems not responding to any command to it.
OK, I guess you have done all you can. I appreciate your efforts. I need to move on to something else. Thank you.
OK, I'll accept then how do I get in touch with you within 30 days
