Hi Jim,

All the books that you purchase in Amazon and subscriptions are connected to your Amazon account. If you will buy a new kindle, all of this will be downloaded to the new kindle after you register the new kindle using your Amazon account. 

If the kindle is out of warranty, I recommend just buy a new one since the repair of your kindle will cost you like buying a new device. You will have to pay the shipping cost back and forth and pay also for the parts and labor for that kindle if you are going to send it for repair.

Dear Jim, It was a pleasure helping you with your Kindle issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.
Issue identified : power button is broken on cx kindle. It is  pushed all the way down.
Solution Implemented : called cx and told him the he can send it for repair but the cost is like buying a new one. told him also that all his data will be downloaded to the new kindle once he register the kindle using his amazon account. mentioned to cx that the initial payment that he made on our site is the payment for posting this question. Answer accepted.
