09 Sportage radio has poor reception? Thoughts? Bought new. Can’t really say if it’s getting worse or just comparing with newer car.

In most cases, a defective antenna base assembly could likely cause the issue described.Inspecting the base for any poor connection at the antenna leads.If the retaining base screws turn out to be loose, securing them is highly recommended to ensure a proper ground.

Either way this is a antenna issue?

You have  to pull down enough of the weatherseal on the hatch to pull down just enough of the headliner to reach the connectors and the base loosen the retaining nut just enough to run the vinyl underneath the antenna base

Were you able to get the antenna base off?
