Heard a squeaky noise coming from the front driver's wheel area. Went about 6 miles and the car stopped, and all the dash lights came on. The car would not start up again. After cooling for 15 minutes the car started but was running rough. The car stopped again after 2 miles with the same issue again. The front suspension control arms, structs, ball joints have all been replaced in the last 10,000 miles. The Police officer thought it might be the driveshaft sensor, but he admitted it was just a guess. Does anyone have an idea on what it could be? I go week to week on paychecks and took a loan for $16,000.00 to install new airlift system, AC compressor, timing belt, and a number of other items I felt should be changed out. The car runs amazing until this issue happened. If the fix is over $500.00 it will need to sit until I have the money!

Hi Duke,

May I know the exact year/model of your car? Does the squeaky noise happening when the car is running or does it happening as well when the car is not running and the engine is turned on?

You can send me a reply by entering your message in the box at the top then hit the send response button to send.

2005 Mercedes Benz S430. The noise happens when you are moving, and then when you come to a complete stop and turn the engine off you will hear 6 to 7 clicking sounds from the same area. (drivers side front wheel area). Best time to contact me would be 6:00 pm tonight central time. I live in Fargo, North Dakota.

Can you verify that clocking sound further? is the sound coming from the engine bay or under the dashboard. You can ask someone to stand infront of the vehicle or on the side then open the hood and try to turn off the engine and have him hear the clicking sound where it is coming from.

Thanks for your time Elixir, but I have to wait a few months before I have the money to get the car repaired. Consider our talk/communication done, and thank you for your help. The car will stay in the garage until I can get the money together.

Thanks, Duke Becker in Fargo, ND

It would be impossible for any Mechanic to clarify what the issue is without driving and hearing the noise. As far as I am concerned Elixir did what he could do over the phone. I will be taking the Mercedes into Valley Imports in Fargo to get the car repaired when I have the money.

Thank you, Duke Becker
