2015 Subaru forester, 110K miles, when driving over 50 MPH, making a slight left turn on highway, right front wheel starts to wobble fairly bad. Breaking slowly it will stop. this also happens when I am in the right lane where the highway tilts more to the right. does not happen at slower speeds. I bought this used a few months ago with 100K miles and it has been happening since buying it. it is only getting slowly worse. VIN: JF2SJADC8FH417104. Today I took off the wheel and didn't see an obvious problems with the linkage or breaks, or looseness. I notice the depth of the 4 inside grooves are around 7mm, but the outer one is 5mm. the other tires are all good at 7mm.

I would actually expect it's possible the wheel bearing is the issue. It's also possible the tire is, but if you have different tread depths, that could indicate it's going to need a wheel alingment. I would rotate this tire to the back and see if the condition is the same, if it is, then have the alignment and wheel bearing checked.

Sometimes you can't make the wheel bearing move as you weigh quite a pit less then the car. But it's a place to start, especially if there is any noise with this.

I was suspecting it needed the alignment when I saw it wearing on the outside.  as far as the bearing, when jacking the wheel off the ground I don't get any movement when I try to move it.  after 10K I would assume the bearing would be getting much worst and making at least some kind of grinding noise?  would the misalignment make the wheel violently shake.  pressing the break and a hard right jerk of the wheel makes it go away quickly untill I'm slow enough. No noise what so ever even when the wheel shakes except the sound of the wheel wobbling at that speed.

I would get it checked out at a shop, this could up being something dangerous and it's not worth having a accident. It could be anything from a wheel bearing, cv axle or some suspension part. a trained tech will be able see something normal person might not.

That actually may be more of a strut type of issue. I don't think the alignment would do that and unless it's got a cv joint binding I can't think of anything else. I will say I see a lot of the inner boots on the cv shaft on the right fail, so check that closely. It will look fine, but see if it's split. It could be a dried out tulip joint causing this.

would a misalignment of the wheel make the wheel violently shake?

no the alignment will not cause that,  there is many things on the front suspension that can cause it , not all bad wheel bearings make noise even tho they normally do.

For you to know it's that side though, it's got to be making some sort of noise.  I would move that tire to the rear and see if there is any change first, sorry, takes me a moment to type

going to do the tire switch, also it appears to need an alignment anyways.

Is there anything else I can help you with today?

One other thing, I do ride sharing, and noticed once when I had a very big woman in the front 300lbs?, and two other adults in the back, nothing happened, I couldn't get the wheel to shake even in left turns up to 70 mph.

does that say anything to you?

Just going to say that could point to a strut issue. That would likely compress the spring and struts pretty good.

It didn't really narrow down the issues, I know that it was already one of the several possible issues we have discussed. I was really trying to see if I could get a more difinitive answer.

With what you have described here this sounds like an issue with the right fro t wheel bearing/hub assembly itself. It will start to develop slack in it which causes the wobble feel and can also cause odd wear with the tire.

I recommend to have the wheel bearing/hub checked for any issues with excess play or damage. I also recommend to have the control arm bushings and ball joints checked over for any issues. Most of the time it is the hub/bearing that has to be replaced
