New gearbox fitted (auto) gone in to limp mode ,gearbox ecu has water in it so emptied and cleaned but still won't work,will fitting a ecu fix the problem. Cannot get code reader to connect to vehicle ,so won't kick down and go through gears.

If we had water intrusion in ECU and now no communication, first you want to make sure the ECU connectors pins are not corroded and making good contact, and II plugs have power to it and if still no communication with ECU, i would replace it

all have been done no power to ecu ,but power to fuse and relay everything else will connect ,airbags, abs, engine management, so don't understand why gearbox won't connect unless ecu as blown with having water in.

Did you replace the ECU after you got water in it and what are you working on please, I need the year, make and model as well as engine size.

Please Trace back power from fuse box to ecu ? Do you have break in wire ,do a continuity test ,if good then replace ecu
