BodyShop owner: 2020 Corola cosmetic damage to front end, client hit something on the road tore a hole in transmission pan lost all fluid replaced pan, ordered fluid from Toyota dealer, put 5 qts of #00289-ATFWS in did not start had vehicle towed to dealer to check level and check out trans, was told by different dealer that it was the wrong fluid that it ruined the trans and it ( trans) must be replaced. Question: Can the trans be flushed, and correct fluid installed or is the dealer just trying to sell a transmission?

You can flush the transmission and put the correct fluid in are this should take care of the problem.

What if the dealer had ran the vehicle? If it does not fix the problem evidently the trans was damaged when the pan was ruptured

It is worth a try to have the tranny flushed and refilled with the correct fluid to make sure that it was not damaged.  Maybe they can just get a new pan and not have to replace the whole tranny, although they will try to talk you getting a new tranny just so they can make more money.
