When you receive a new voice mail message, the new message LED on the top of the handset flashes and appears in the handset display. In the event your message waiting light gets out of sync with your phone company’s voice messaging system, you can manually reset it back to the “No messages waiting” state.

Steps:

Press and hold FiND on the base for five seconds.
Note: The handsets connected to the base will start to beep, however, keep pressing for five seconds. A beep sounds and the message alert tone is reset.

I tried the suggestion to hold FIND ...tried twice... each time vertical lines danced across the base window.  Light still blinking.

When there are messages waiting in your voice mailbox, the new message LED on the handset flashes, and appears in the handset display. Have you checked for new messages? This might be the reason why the light flashes again.

Try to unplug the AC cord from the base unit wait 20 seconds, insert the plug again and THEN press the FIND HS button.

The blinking red light should stop.

After you listen to your messages, the message icon turns off. If it doesn't,

you can reset it: With the phone in standby, open the menu and select

Global Setup; select VMWI Reset, then select Yes.

I disconnected the base as you suggested.  Now I get a steady red light on the phone.  AND ..I don't know how to access the menu ... how do I find it?

Press and hold the “Find” button on the base for 5 seconds. The base will begin beeping. Continue depressing the button for the full 5 seconds. Release after 5 seconds have elapsed. The flashing LED should be off.

Please respond to my question.  The flashing red light has turned to a steady red light.  I believe it is supposed to be off.  Also...please tell me the steps to take to get to the menu.  Thank you.

Blinking red light indicates that you have to check your voicemail message.

The light should have cleared when you have.

Sometimes it doesn’t and sometimes the light is on permanently even when you don’t have voicemail.

Did you try resetting the Voice message indicator light?

With the phone in standby, open the menu and select Global Setup; select VMWI Reset, then select Yes.

Issue not resolved.  I am aware of what the manual says and have followed those instructions.  I have also reset through the Global Setup.  So ... I think it is not worth fiddling with anymore.  Thank you.

Perhaps the phone itself is bad and please take it back and get a new one

Customer

Easy to say; hard to do.  The phones (there are 2 in addition to the base one) are 4 years old ... too late!  Worked fine until this problem occurred.  Phone may be bad, but I can live with it if you can't fix it.

Also, if you take the battery cover off most Uniden cordless handsets, the model of the system will also be there - on a sticker - usually UNDER the battery

For MANY Uniden systems, a "flashing light" on the system components usually means that there is a "New Message" waiting on either

a built-in Answering system - OR -

the provider's "Voicemail" system.

NOTE: the built-in Answering system and provider's voicemail system are two DIFFERENT and SEPARATE systems - that do NOT work well together.

So if you take a look at the handset display(s), you MAY see some text or ICON (symbol) that will indicate that there is a new message to be heard.

And IF the base unit has its own answering system turned ON and a new message is waiting, there should be a "message counter" that is lit up, indicating how many new messages have been left on that system.

I look forward to any further questions or results that you may have

Model D2380-2 (I think 2 after the dash should be a 3 since I have a base and 2 added units).

OK - I have attached an image of the cordless handset(s) for this system - with the parts of the handset(s) labeled. Click the link below to see that attachment, then let me know if the "Status LED" is blinking - OR - some OTHER part of the system.

Posted
Customer

The Status LED is the light to which I have been referring.  Before this problem, it was usually off unless there was a message, which is when it blinked.  Now it never blinks...is always on.  So have to go into the messages to find out if there are messages -- or not.

according to my notes, that status LED should be on when the handset(s) are CHARGING, and may turn off once the battery inside the handset is fully charged (or the handset is NOT on the charger).

So considering that this system is a few years old, if the batteries have NOT been replaced with new rechargeable batteries in the last year or so, I would recommend that ALL of the batteries be replaced, and then charged up for a few hours or overnight.
