My account has been disabled and I don’t know why. I filed several appeals but am told the decision cannot be reversed. I honestly don’t know why my account was disabled. If FaceBook would give me the true reason, I would be able to better offer an explaination. Is there another course of action I can take to get my account reinstated? I appreciate your assistance.

Unfortuantely, once Facebook has determined that their decision cannot be reversed, its out of your hands and there is nothing we or Facebook can do.

You should have received email from Facebook explaining their decision on disabling your account.  Look in your Spam/Junk Mail folder, or look in trash - it may be there.   They always send a letter explaining why your account was disabled.

Hi Scott, there is nothing in my inbox, spam or junk folders from Facebook explaining why my account was disabled.

Hello Bambi,

They disable accounts when they dont follow Facebook Community Standards such as:

  • Posting content that doesn't follow the Facebook Terms.
  • Using a fake name.
  • Impersonating someone.
  • Continuing behavior that's not allowed on Facebook by violating our Community Standards.
  • Contacting other people for the purpose of harassment, advertising, promoting, or other conduct that's not allowed.

You already indicated that you have requested a review, but was told they will not reverse their decision. Theres really nothing you can do once an account is disabled.  I am sorry, its beyond our control and out of our hands.

Does Facebook realize that now is not the time to completely cut some one off from their personal connections? We're in the middle of a pandemic. Teen suicide rates are climbing and losing a link to their friends, family, and the outside world could be the final straw. Does Facebook want that on their hands? Because I haven't received an email I have no idea why this has happened. Will they send an actual letter?

I've read the reasons why they do this, but honestly, to my knowledge, I have posted nothing that would warrant my account being disabled. If they could point to a specific post or comment, I could fully defend myself. Facebook gives you no recourse to respond. They are telling me I'm guilty of something and I have no idea what it is, with no option to defend the action they claim I committed.

Facebook doesn't cut off anyone just because they feel like it.   Did you share your account with someone else?   My point is that whoever was using your account committed an act that violated Facebook's rules and you were caught (or reported to) by Facebook, and they acted on it.

Did you request a review using this link  use this form to request a review?   If so, there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.  Facebook already made their decision.  They should have sent you an email indicating the reason.

I would wait a few days.  Sometimes you will get an email with the reason; or an opporunity to reactivate your account.

Hi Scott, it feels like they cut me off for no reason. It's incredibly frustrating. I did not share my account with anyone. It feels like I was hacked or someone reported me out of spite for some reason and Facebook is refusing to hear my side of it. I will wait a few more days in hopes of receiving an email of explanation. Thank you. I'm sure you have a number of people, like me, reaching out in hopes of a solution to this issue.

Hi Scott, I got the following email from Facebook today, very vague. I will send my response to you next.

Hi Bambi,

Thanks for contacting us. We've reviewed your account and confirmed that it still violates our Community Standards. As a result, your account remains disabled.

Thanks,

Thomas

This was my response:

Hello Thomas,

Thank you for your response, though it doesn’t offer any insights. Would you please tell me what exactly in the Community Standards my account supposedly violated? I honestly have no idea and want the opportunity to defend myself as I strongly believe my account was disabled in error. I have been a loyal Facebook user for years and have never even received a warning. Perhaps it’s my first name, which is my given name and on all legal documents and IDs including my birth certificate, high school and college diplomas, drivers license and passport.

Again, I would appreciate any specifics you could share so I can defend myself in the hopes of having my account restated.

Thank you, Thomas I look forward to hearing from you.

Bambi

Gotta find out what action was done that violates their Community Standards. You have a right to know.

Exactly. They haven't told me what I supposedly violated and yes, I have a right to know. I'll continue to share Thomas's responses with you. Thanks for your help.

Bambi,

Any progress yet?

Hi Scott, no progress. I did send a second email to Thomas yesterday, as a follow up to my Sept 8th message to him. That's it. I do try to log into my account daily to see if it's been reinstated but no luck. Still have no idea what Community Standard I supposedly violated. I'm thinking of contacting a local consumer advocate to see if he can help. Any other ideas? Thanks for checking in.
