I have a 2016 Buick Lacrosse. About 6 months ago (in the heat of the Texas summer with 100 degree temps the norm) I started getting a message that my rear view camera system needed servicing. It was a message that appeared on my console screen. Eventually, the screen quit working. Now, with the cooler temps, the screen has begun working imtermittently, and will quit once the car warms up. The screen is now most likely to work when the car has been sitting longer in colder temps. So, I'm thinking it has to be some sort of relay or fuse, that is, hopefully easy to find and replace. What say you?

Hello Dave

How are you doing! This is a common issue on all brand and makes of vehicle Dave. As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the negative battery connector of your vehicle and let it sit for 5 minutes before reconnecting it. This will drain the current and reset the system and may get rid of the issue. Hope this helps.

I'll be standing by for your response. Have a great day!

Relly, this is interesting.   The touchscreen has illuminated and has stayed illuminated for the past week and a half without fail.    This has to be a temperature related problem .     The unit started acting squirrely in the beginning of summer, quit working on one of the hottest days of the summer, on the only day in months that I went to the mall, parked in a mall parking lot, bumper to bumper in the hot sun.   Yes, this is when i quit working completely.  And then, months later, as we began to experience colder winter temps, the unit began working intermittently, mostly when the car had been cold and idle for a long period of time.  Now, after a month of cold weather, the unit is working consistently.  Doesn't this sound like sort sort of relay or other electrical component?  It does to me, but I don't have the schematic in front of me.  Thanks for your help'

Great to hear that Dave and youre most welcome. This may be a relay or module issue that when hot the issue may  occur. Sometimes once resetted this issue may not reoccur for a very long time. But let me see what I can do if I can find some schematics for you. You may want to leave me your email for some times the file is big that I may not be able to post it here. Thank you and have a great day!

By the way Dave if you can click on the Accept Answer button and click on the problem solved I'll greatly appreciate it. Thanks once again and I'll check my files for the schematics that you may use in the future.

Have a good one!

Hello Dave hope everything is well. I've been talking to my colleagues about the issue as well. We figured that if it fails again, it's either you will replace the rear view monitor or the back up camera for it may fail over time, hope you still have warranty for the car. But during hot temp it may fail right? The one at fault can be on the rear view monitor because it is being hit directly by the sun and absorbs so much heat that's why it is failing.

Hope this helps Dave. Is there anything else I can add or help you with?

I'll be standing by for your response

Thank you
