im ready to get started
Hello Sherri
How are you doing? May I know the year and model of your BMW?
Relly
ill be doing when my car is on the road but im good
2004 bmw x5
it keeps cutting off when i crank it
Ok Sherri... I'm just gonna ask you a few questions so we can sort things out. When you crank it up will it run for a few seconds then gonna shut down?
i had codes for oxygen sensor and map sensor i replaced those
yes to your question
Ok... the map and oxygen sensors are just one of the few that can cause this issue. Have you tried removing the battery connectors?
yes i took the battery connectors off
Since you owned this car Sherri does it have any history of crankshaft position sensor replacement?
i dont know i got the car from a used dealer and havent had it a year and been having problems day one
soon as i got the car and got home the coolant tank burst i replaced that
Along the same lines as the symptom above, a problem with your crankshaft position sensor could cause your vehicle to stall and/or backfire. Stalling is more common than backfiring as the interruption of the crankshaft signal can cause the engine to be cut off
then i had to get it towed home from shopping because it ran hot and it was a bad radiator when i bought it i replaced that
I see... looks like that this car has been a real challenge for you. Please take note that a bad crankshaft position sensor may not appear on the scanner. May I ask if you can hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the car on ON position? Do you hear like a humming noise from the tank before you start it?
do i need a new one
May I call you on the phone number you gave us Sherri? Please don't leave this chat while we are talking over the phone. Thank you
i hear the fuel pump priming when i turn the car to on position
my phone is dead thats why im chatting
i hear a humming noise from the tank before i start it
Good to know that the fuel pump is priming Sherri. You will need to replace the crankshaft position sensor as a first course of action
i just plug my phone back up give it a few minutes
Good... so that we can talk over the phone as well.
where exactly is this located under the hood i saw the diagram but i want to know where exactly in the front or to the side
ok you can call me now is this extra
No Sherri you won't be charged extra for the call. PLease don't leave this chat page. Give me a bit. Thank you
