Hi i have a bmw f10 525d 2010. The problem im facing is that when my unlock button is pressed the the lights inside comes on 2 times for a period of 3 to 5 seconds. After that i have to press the unlock button again and the doors unlock. This happens only if the car is locked amd stays so for more than 5 minutes.I would like to know what this issue is.

Hello Brijesh Kumar

Hope everything is well. This are common issues and the usual problem is a failing or about to fail BCM (body control module), The automotive central body control module (BCM) is a processor-based power distribution center that supervises and controls functions related to the car body such as lights, windows, security, door locks and access control, and various comfort controls.

Below is how it looks like and is located under the glove compartment

Since your vehicle's interior light will still shut off I strongly suggest a reset which may help. Try to remove the negative battery connector and let it sit for 5 minutes before reconnecting it. This may help and if not then it has to be the BCM which you may replace in a later time if it fails continuously.

Hope this helps

I tried the reset option removing the negative terminal. Didnt work. I have checked my junction box electronics but no error codes are logged. And physically too all the connectors are neat.

Alrighty then. It has to be a failing BCM but since the light will still shut off you may just leave it like that for a while til the BCM is busted. Please take note that there will be no codes for a failing BCM

Is there an auto electrician near you? You may take it to them for a reset and see how it goes. The BCM may get to it's normal operating state after the procedure.

It is not exactly the light shutting off. Normally when we unlock the car the doors unlock and the interior lights come on. In this case the lights come on...off and on a second time..and then the doors are ready to be unlocked and you habe to press the unlock button again and the doors unlock. After this the locks work fine till i leave the car locked for more than 5 minutes. So can i confirm it is the JBE( BCM)?

I tried the negative battery terminal reset. I tried resetting it through ista D, esys and Bimmercode. Still same problem.
