Hello Victoria
How are you doing? While limp mode could be considered a catch-all symptom that may indicate many different issues, the most common causes of limp mode are: Faulty engine elements, including sensors and wiring. Excessive or reduced engine boost control. Faulty transmission, including ineffective wiring.
These things must be diagnosed physically by a professional mechanic for they have also an OBD II scanner to check the fault and the parts that will require replacement.
But here's a thing before bringing it in to a mechanic. Try to remove the negative battery connector and let it sit for 10 minutes before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and may get rid off the limp mode. But if to no avail please bring it in to your trusted mechanic for a physical check up. Hope this helps. I'll be standing by for your response.
Thank you
Relly
Ok well I have a OBD II reader I'll go connect it and let you know what it says is that ok
Sure thing no problem Victoria. I'll wait here. Thank you
It says 38 symptom glue
Ok... this will mean a lot of things like ABS or fluid sticking together but you just had it changed right?
Yes
They were supposed to flush the transmission fluid out and then put the new fluid is it possible they didn't do this
It's possible that they did not. They should have used a dialysis machine. Getting the old fluid out and putting the new fluid in. I strongly suggest that you replace the filter as well.
By the way... did you try removing the negative battery connector to try the reset. You will need to drive it around the block a couple of times
Doing that now
Alrighty... I'll be standing by for your response. Crossing my fingers on the reset for if they did flushed the fluid and fill it in with the new one properly we will be facing a tranny rebuild. My advice is try to have a fluid change on a different proper shop that has a dialysis machine for this may resolve the problem and get rid of the thinking that the first shop made a poor job.
I'll be right here waiting after the reset
I did take it to a shop to have the transmission plus and fluid to put in
They were also supposed to replace the filter
Yes they should replace the filter for this may accumulate gunk
Any update?
Had a personal issue but give me a minute and I'll update u
Alrighty ... I'll be standing by. Thank you
Now the obd says 38 symptom glue and 61 battery voltage terminal 30
Test drive
The obd also says 31 symptom, gear monitoring and 35 gear monitoring 3
Alright. Let's hope for the best
3A glue monitoring 3/4 (Code p0734 )
Code P0374 trouble code indicates that an abnormality has been detected in the gear ration of one of the automatic transmissions gears, causing the storage of a code in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and illumination of the Check Engine Light.
This code can indicate an internal problem in the transmission/gearbox itself. This can indicate that one of the transmission/gearbox components is slipping internally.
What will have to be done is to have the gearbox removed and inspected to see if it can be replaced or if it has to be repaired. Usually friction plates replacement will be required
Any history of transmission rebuild on this car from the past?
Ok I'll see where I can have that done
No not that I know of
Alrighty then. Looks like that it has reached the end of it's service life
Ok thank you
