I have a Jaguar X-type 2.0 Diesel year 2004. I suppose I have a typical model fault in my car now. The thermometer shows some very high reading after 15 minutes of driving. Also alarm light goes on when high temperature is indicated. I do not believe the temperature gauge is being correct. The suspicioius feature is that after turning engine off and switching the power on again, the teperature reading falls within few seconds back to normal. It also show very rapid movement up and down when driving the car. The car has had thermostat and temperature sensor changed with no result. the radiator hose behind the thermostat gets warm. One worrying thing is also that the cabin blower does not give any warm air anymore. This temperature fault arised all the sudden. SO: What is the diagnose, what´s wrong with the car?

Hello Zach

How are you doing? May I ask if the idle of the car goes up and down? I'll be standing by for your response.

Hello Relly.

Nice to get your message and talk about the issue here. Based on what I have seen in the topic sites I think this may be a model fault in this car. The 2.0 diesel model is not exported worldwide as far as I know, so I just hope I might find some experienced advice despite of this challenge. The idle and performance of the engine is completely flawless. I presume I will be available for real time contact between 06 am to 4 pm USA:s central time.

Greetings

Hello Zach

Good to hear from you. Parts may require replacement but before we go there let's try a reset which may resolve the issue. Please remove the negative battery connector of the car and let it sit for 10 minutes before reconnecting it. Please let me know if the result. Good luck!

Thank you

Hello Relly

I shall do that. But meanwhile there will be a delay. The car happends to be under bodywork fixing and I must wait for a right opportunity to make a drive test.
