Where are you seeing the dark purple image? have you inspect the webcam's lens if there are possible debris blocking its way?

The webcam test shows the same purple screen.
are you using a laptop or desktop computer? is it an apple or windows machine?

It was a pleasure helping you with your Webcam issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.
Issue identified : cx getting purple screen on skype and zoom
Solution Implemented : called cx and accessed his computer. we tried to change the usb port where the webcam is attched. no go. Tried deleting/adding the device in the device manager. no go. tried reinstalling the driver of the webcam. no go. told cx that the problem is the webcam and it is a harware failure that needs to be replaced. cx will buy a new webcam. answer accepted.
