phone has restarted. how can i quickly put the phone to sleep to test.
just press the power button once to put the phone to sleep and press the power button again to wake it up.
that appears to have stopped the pop ups. what do i do if they come back?

it should never come back for as long as you never click or allow something on the internet that will re-enable again the customization service. If incase that will happen again, just follow the steps that i provide you below and that should fix the issue.

The popup came back. I've followed the steps twice, but there is something turning it back on after the phone is asleep for 5 or 10 minutes. How do I find the ofending app etc...
there might be unwanted app running on the background. Go to settings then tap on apps, browse on the list of apps and uninstall the apps that you are un-familiar with. These apps might be triggering the pop up on your phone.
try also refreshing your chrome browser. tap settings then tap apps tap on chrome then tap clear cache. tap manage storage then tap clear all data then restart the phone and check again.
It appears there was an app called "customization services" that is not part of the android or galaxy systems. I uninstalled it. I'll let you know what happens.
