Yes I'd like to know the reset procedure - i saw this posted on another response but my unit does not have the CBL button.  This is TX-900 (no HDMI inputs and no remote control).  I cannot find the reset procedure for this unit.  The troubleshooting tips in the user manual indicates the ampilifier protection circuitry has been activated.  Unit was working fine, I left on vacation and when I returned it would power on but no sound through speakers (not even a hum or any type of indication that power is going to any speaker outputs.)

Thank you for your response. Can you try this steps.

  1. Unplug the receiver's power cord from the wall and leave unplugged for at least 30 minutes. Remove all speaker and audio cables from the back of the receiver while waiting.
  2. Reconnect the power cord after at least after 30 minutes has passed. Leave the speaker and audio cables disconnected.
  3. Turn the receiver on and turn the volume to the maximum setting. Leave the receiver on for 30 seconds. If the receiver shuts off and goes back into protect mode there is an issue with the receiver. But if the receiver will not go back to protection mode then you are good.

Adivse me if this resolve your issue.. I will be standing by.

The receiver did not go into protection mode (I don't think it ever was in protection mode), but it also still has no sound from either FM radio or CD.   Nothing changed.  Is there a reset key combination I can use?

Just a question. Your receiver is not making any sounds in any mode correct? And external speakers are all connected properly.

Can you try this, while holding down the Tape1/Video botton then press and hold the power button until the unit shows Clear on the screen or until the receiver shuts down. Then if the Clear disappear on the screen or the unit shuts down power it on again.

The speaker buttons are depressed properly.  I do not have a tuning mode button.  I do have a mode/mute button.  I also checked using headphones in the headphone jack and it produces no sound.  Headphones were double-checked in another receiver and work fine.

There is a Tape1/Video botton right below the lcd display hold that down. While holding that down press and hold as well the power button. See if you will see a Clear word display on the lcd or if the device will shutdown itself. See if that works.

And also I see there is a Mute/Mode button there try to press it a couple of times it maybe on mute.

Customer

The mute button doesn't fix the sound issue.  The Power button is not momentary - it's either in (on) or off (out).  However, I did try that Tape1/Power Button combo for >30 seconds with no results.

If you still have the user manual with you it will show it on page 12 on how to troubleshoot the reciever. What I can provide you is only the service manual for this reciever since the user manual you need to download it and you need to pay for it. I can provide you the link where you can download the user manual.
