Do you have a recovery disk for your computer?

The reason why you have that error is that you have a Improperly configured BOOT.INI (Windows XP). If you have inadvertently erased or tinkered with the boot.ini file, you may receive stop code 0x7B during the startup process.

Thanks

Reinstalling the recovery disk will restore the computer to factory state and it will wipe out everything including the error that you have.

Please let me know if you want to proceed with the process because if you have important files on your computer it will be deleted.

To reinstall your operating system please restart your computer then tap F2 to go to your Bios Settings.

On Bios please go to the Boot Tab then please select your DVD Drive as the first bootable device. DVD drive is also called ODD. Once done press F10 to save the settings. Insert the recovery disk optical disk drive or DVD drive then it will start the reinstallation process.

Can you please try to repair your os usig the disk? Insert the disk again then on the setup screen please press the "R" button on your keyboard when the screen says "Welcome to Setup."

Type in the admin password when prompted. Press "1" and then "Enter" to open the command prompt.

Type "fixboot" into the command prompt.

Check whay will happen. If this wont work please try to reinstall the disk but this time make sure you delete the partition and start a new one

  2. "Restart" or by pressing the restart button on your computer if Windows won't boot.
  3. Press any key on your keyboard when "Press Any Key to Boot From CD" appears on the screen.
  4. Open the recovery console by pressing "R" at the welcome screen.
  5. Select your Windows XP operating system by pressing the up and down arrow keys and pressing "Enter."

Restart PC, while restarting press F8 to go to advanced boot options and choose: Last Known Good Configuration and press enter.

Hi,

Please let me know if you had a chance to try the above step Last Known Good Configuration . In case you have already tried and the problem still persists we might have to change a BIOS Setting so as to get past the following error stop: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, ) that we are experiencing during the Repair/ Installation process.

In anticipation of your response.

Hi,

I can understand the level of disappointment especially when you are dealing with Blue Screen error.

Please start tapping the key rather than just pressing,as the relevant screen appears just for a second or a fraction of a second.

I hope you are doing the same but just wanted to be sure.

Thanks,
Himanshu

Hi

Can you please try to restore the laptop using the hidden partition of your hard drive.

Restart the computer the Press Alt + F10 during POST to boot the system from the hidden hard disk drive

partition and access the hidden partition main page.

Note: You must enter the password to access the hidden partition main page.

The hidden partition main page offers three options to restore the system: restore to factory default settings, restore from user's backup, or restore from backup CD/DVD.

Select restore to factory state.

Please let me know if this helps

Hi,

Apology for delayed response..We need to change the SATA mode in the BIOS to IDE Mode. Please try the following steps.

  1. On start up press F2 to enter BIOS
  2. Go to "Main" -> select "SATA mode"
  3. Change AHCI Mode to IDE Mode
  4. Save the Changes and Exit

Please ensure to save the changes and then exit.

NB : Mouse does not works when you are in the BIOS.Navigation is done through Keyboard only

Once the chnages are made then we would try the fixboot option again by the following steps:

  1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer's disc drive.
  6. Type your administrator password and press "Enter."
  7. Repair your Windows XP boot sector by typing "fixboot" and press "Enter."
  8. Quit the recovery console by typing "exit" and pressing "Enter."

Please let me know your observation.

Regards,
Himanshu

Hi,

It seems that we have gone past the blue screen and now need to repair/reinstall the operating system

Well there are few tips on "How To Find the Administrator Password in Windows XP". Please follow the guidelines in the link below

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsxp/ht/adminpassword02.htm

If we still cannot crack the password we would have to reinstall the Operating System rather than using a Repair.

Do let me know what exactly happens.

Thanks,
Himanshu
