Trying to replace entire tensioner assembly(16620-0P030) on 3.5L 2GR-FKS engine. Looking at new tensioner assy, there are 2 front facing bolts for mounting, but there is also a threaded hole facing towards the AC compress/alternator. I have removed the 2 bolts on the front pulley side of tensioner assy, but am unable to pry the assembly out. It appears the tensioner is still being held in by something. Looking for info regarding what the other threaded hole in tensioner assy is for. Does one of the AC compressor or alternator bolts thread in there? Thanks for any help.

2017 Sienna LE AWD.  2GR-FKS 3.5l slightly different than previous gen 2GR-FE.

I have scoured internet and forums, and have been unable to find an answer to this question.  I'm guessing that only a Toyota mechanic, tha thas actually replaced one of these tensioner assemblies, will be able to answer my question - that's why i'm here.

I'm trying to not remove the fan assy, alternator, etc.  I just want to know, preferably with a diagram, which mounting bolt to remove to free up the tensioner.  Pics attached.

tensioner assy front

tensioner assy forward facing

Thanks

Thank you for your response. Do you actually need to replace the whole assembly or is it possible to replace the tensioner pulley only to resolve your issue? Because normally the bearing from the pully only the one causing the issue for this and no need to replace the whole assembly.

whole assembly.  there was a time i could have only replaced the pulley, but after prying on it for a few days, it should be replaced.

Thanks

any updates?  Like I said in my initial question creation, i'm looking to chat with a technician that has actually had to remove the tensioner assembly as a whole.  Thanks

I found the answer to my question.  On Toyota 2GR-FKS engines, the tensioner assembly is held in by the top passenger side mounting bolt for the AC compressor.  It is a stud with a nut on the end of it.  The stud screws down into the side of the tensioner assembly, and then a nut holds the AC compressor tight up against the tensioner.  It is possible to double-nut that stud and remove the entire stud to then free up the tensioner assembly.  Install is reverse order.
