Thank you for this information. To connect you phone to the internet using data connection please do the following:

  1. Go to a Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks.
  2. Tap Mobile Networks. A Mobile network settings open.
  3. Tap Data enabled.

Now your phone will connect to the network and you should be able to use it.

Please let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions.

Thank you,
Mario

I haven't got that I have use packet data, data roaming, access point names, network mode-which if I tap on it gives me the following: GSM/WCDMA (AUTO MODE) OR GSM only or WCDMA only, then I also have select available networks. I don't want to have to plug in my internet through which I use my laptop to connect my mobile to the internet all the time

I understand. Just tap on a "Packet data" option. It should allow connecting to the 3G network and you won't need your laptop or home access point to connect to the internet.

Please let me know about the results.

Thank you,
Mario

All I need to do is to connect using packet data and that will get me online and that is all I need to tap?

Exactly. When "Use packet data" option is enabled, your phone should be connected to the 3G network and you can use all of the internet services (www, e-mail, etc.). When you're done, you are allowed to disable the option to save you phone's battery or your credit. Is there anything else I can help you?

Thank you,

On my old phone I was able to download ringtones and to install them that doesnt seem to be possible on the galaxy note

It is possible to get ringtones, but on your smartphone you would have to do it in a little different way. Just tap on a Browser icon under Menu and type "www.google.com" (or your prefered search engine). When a page is opened, search for a "free ringhtones" and you would find a webpage where you can download the rightones. I hope things are a bit clearer now. Please ask if you have any other questions.

Thank you,
