1996 Pickup (22RE) - just developed a tick under load that I originally suspected was an exhaust manifold leak. I could find anything looking. However, while idling I loosened the oil fill cap on the valve cover...as soon as I started to remove the engine RPM dropped and there was enough vacuum under the valve cover that it almost pulled the cap out of my fingers. With cap removed there were mist droplets of oil coming out of the opening. Is this an indicator of an abnormality?

Hello Damon

How are you doing? May I ask if there's white smoke coming out of the engine oil fill when cap is off? Does the rpm drop when the oil fill cap is in place? I'll be standing by for your response. Thank you

Thanks Relly.  I'm doing good and hope you are too.   I'm at work so sorry I missed your chat opportunity.

White smoke from oil fill cap?...No.  No visible smoke at all.

RPM drop when cap in place?...No. The opposite.  The engine RPM drops slightly when the cap is removed.

I'm at my desk now and will be for the next 20 minutes or so.

Thanks,

Damon

No worries about that. At first I am suspecting a blowby engine that needs to be rebuilt but I need to know the condition first. Since it has no white smoke you are good. The minimal oil spitting is just fine because of the moving parts. Not unless the oil can reach up to the hood which is not right. I believe everything is just fine with regards to the engine not unless you are experiencing some abnormalities in the engine when you are driving. I'll be standing by for your response. Thank you

Dear Damon, It was a pleasure helping you with your TOYOTA issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.

Issue identified : Oil spit
Solution Implemented : Chat and called Damon. Discussed the problem and other possible causes. Oil spit is just normal because of the moving parts like the rocker arm. No visible white smoke which is a good sign of no engine blowby. Adviced Damon to have it scanned to know if there's any fault code and to determine what sensor will require replacement if there's any. Solution Accepted
If issue resurfaces : Advised to contact us at s**t@experthelp.com or call us on our support number ***-***-**** )
