We have ipad air and got it 12-5-2014 and last night we couldn't get mail,facebook orsafari so we plugged it in and it does nothing today it is black. It makes a little noise but what should I go?

Here's what I have tried so far:
We held the on/off button down for 5 seconds and pushed the other button off and on. We took it back to Wal-Mart where we bought it from and they told us to get in touch with Apple. Help
