Hi Diane,

Thanks for getting in touch with Experthelp.  Many issues with your Kindle, such as connecting to the internet or issues with downloading content, can be solved by restarting your device. Please follw these steps to fix the problem just incase your Kindle is unresponsive:

  1. Press and hold the Power button for a full 40 seconds.

After the first 6 to 8 seconds, the screen will go blank, which is normal. Continue holding the Power button.

  2. After the 40 seconds, release the Power button.

The charge indicator light will turn on after a few seconds. This should fix the problem.

Or Follow these steps

Press and hold, or slide and hold, the Power button for a full 40 seconds, even after the screen goes blank, then let go. Press or slide the power button to restart if the device does not start up again on its own.

After the device has finished resetting and started up please check if you can already connect to the internet.

Please let me know if the problem has been fixed and you are already satisfied with the answer or have additional questions by replying to this message. I will be waiting for your response. Thanks.

Thanks for replying Diane. Turning your router off and on solves most Wi-Fi connection issues.

On your Wireless Router:

If you do not have an Internet connection, try re-booting your wireless router by turning it OFF unplugging it from the power source for at least 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on and wait for 5 minutes.

On your Kindle:

Restart your Kindle again: Press and hold, or slide and hold, the Power button for a full 40 seconds, even after the screen goes blank, then let go. Press or slide the power button to restart if the device does not start up again on its own.

If wireless connectivity is not enabled, your Kindle will not automatically connect to a Wi-Fi network that you have used before. Do the steps below:

  1. From Home, press the Menu button, and then select Settings.
  2. Select view next to Wi-Fi Networks and connect to the wireless router network.
  3. Make sure you are connected to the correct Wireless router and using the correct password

Please let me know if the problem has been fixed and you are already satisfied with the answer or need additional help by replying to this message. I will be waiting for your response. Thanks.

Hello Diane,

Regarding the Critically low error, this could mean that when you begin to run out of space on your Kindle tablet or e-reader, the first thing to consider is deleting any e-books, videos, songs or apps you're not using. If you purchased these items from the Kindle Store or the Amazon Appstore, you can delete them from your Kindle and still access them at any time from the Amazon cloud. The error could also contribute to the connection problems on your Kindle. Please try these steps:

Kindle Cleanup

Tap and Hold (also called long press) on the app and a menu will pop up that says Remove From Device. Tap on Remove From Device and it will be removed from your Kindle. Any Amazon content like Apps, Games, Music etc is still stored on the Amazon Cloud (Amazon's computer servers) for free and you can go back and download anything again at any time. It only removes it from your Kindle, not from the Cloud. The exception would be things that you put on the Kindle from another source like files downloaded to the Kindle from your computer, etc.

If this doesn't solve your problem, and you have one of the Kindle Fire tablets, you can also free up space by clearing your application cache and deleting junk files.

Kindle Fire Cleanup

When you use an app on your Kindle Fire, Fire HD or Fire HDX, the app stores temporary files in your tablet's memory. Many apps are good about cleaning up after themselves, but others allow the cache file to build up over time, eventually causing you to run low on space. You can clear the cache for each app manually from the Applications section of your tablet's settings. Simply tap the name of an app, tap "Storage," and then tap "Clear Data." You can also install one of several cleaning tool apps that do the job for you, such as Clean Master, Clean Kindle or Clean. These apps also clean up any junk files they find on your Kindle.

Please let me know if the problem has been fixed and you are already satisfied with the answer or need additional help by replying to this message. I will be waiting for your response. Thanks.
